Austenitic SS 304 Flat

Austenitic SS 304 Flat

304 stainless steel flat as well as SS 304 flat are the most mainstream and economical forms of the 304 stainless steels. 304 stainless steel flat has better corrosion resistance properties when it comes to chemical corrodents as well as industrial atmospheres and marine environments.

BALANCE

SS 304 stainless steel flat along with SS 304 flat are part of the austenitic family of stainless steel and they are known to be used in varieties of stainless steel applications. As compared to other products, SS 304 flat is a relatively low-cost offering and used in many applications.

Properties

SS 304 grades have excellent low temperature properties and respond well to hardening by cold working.  304 stainless steel flat may be subject to becoming a bit magnetic when worked and are not treatable with heat. 304 stainless steel flat grades possess better welding properties and post weld annealing is not regularly needed to restore performance. Check the aisi 304 stainless steel data flat for more information.

The carbon content in this grade SS 304 strengthens it and does not allow the alloy from getting fragile. 304 stainless steel is considered to be resistant to potable water with content up to about 200mg/L chlorides at medium temperatures, which may reduce to about 150mg/L at 60°C.

Application

  • Food processing equipment, particularly in beer brewing, milk processing & winemaking
  • Kitchen benches, sinks, troughs, equipment and appliances
  • Architectural paneling, railings & trim
  • Chemical containers, including for transport
  • Heat Exchangers
