SS 310S grades contain higher amounts of chromium and nickel content, making them highly resistant to oxidation and corrosion. Grade 310/310SS is a lower carbon version, less prone to embrittlement and sensitisation in service.

SS 310 Round Bar is typically used for elevated temperature applications as its high chromium and nickel content provide solid corrosion resistance, excellent resistance to oxidation, and also has superior strength in temperatures up to 2100 Degree F.

Properties

SS 310S Bars are very hard, wear resistant, tough, and inert to local overheating, and frequently engineered to particular service requirements. Stainless Steel 310/310S also have to be dimensionally stable during hardening and tempering.

The factor that SS 310/310S chemical composition has high chromium and nickel contents provides it comparable corrosion resistance, better resistance to oxidation and the retention of a larger fraction of room temperature ability than the common austenitic alloys like Type 304.

The stainless steel Bars are generally stable while tempering and hardening. It can either have a coated, cold-formed or hot-formed surface. Stainless Steel310/310S/310S is an austenitic heat resistant alloy with excellent resistance to oxidation under mildly cyclic conditions through 2000°F.

Specification

The Specification for Wrought Stainless steel Bars as per astm Standard is ASTM A-276/ASME SA-276, they are categorised into different form and shape such as SS 310/310S Round Bar, Rod, Channel Bar, T-Bar, Flat Bar, Blocks, Square, bar, Triangle, Threaded, Hex (A/F), Profiles, Half Ingot, Billet, I/H Bar, etc.

When considering wrought stainless round bars, material shall be furnished in the following way such as  Hot-worked, Hot-worked and Annealed, Hot-worked- Annealed and cold worked or Hot-worked-Annealed and heat treated.

Round bars depending upon their treatment and their use and application they can also be available in different surface finishes such as Black, Bright Polished, Rough Turned, NO.4 Finish, Matt Finish, BA Finish, 2B, 2D. etc

Application

Typical Applications of Stainless Steel 310/310S (UNS S31000) are used in fluidised bed combustors, kilns, radiant tubes, tube hangers for petroleum refining and steam boilers, coal gasifier internal components, lead pots, and more.

Alloy 310/310Sis used widely in industries such as heat treatment, chemical processing, Heat Exchangers, Oil Burner Parts, Furnace Parts, Refinery & Petrochemicals, LNG, Dairy, Oil & Gas, Chemical & Fertilizer etc.
