316 stainless steel plate and 316 stainless steel sheet is a chromium-nickel-molybdenum austenitic stainless steel developed to provide improved corrosion resistance to Alloy 304 / 304L in moderately corrosive environments. SS 316L Stainless Steel sheets and plates is more corrosion resistant than SS 316 and any other related common alloys.
Properties
316 SS Plate and SS 316 Sheet have good corrosion resistance to pitting in phosphoric and acetic acid solution. It performs well in boiling 20% phosphoric acid. The alloy can also be used in the food and pharmaceutical process industries where it is utilized to handle hot organic and fatty acids in an effort to minimize product contamination.

SS 316L, the low carbon version of 316 stainless steel, is immune to grain boundary carbide precipitation (sensitisation). This makes it suited to use in heavy gauge (over about 6mm) welded components. For elevated temperature applications the high carbon variant, 316H stainless steel and the stabilised grade 316Ti stainless steel should be employed. View the 316 stainless steel data sheet for more information about its properties.

316 stainless plate is widely used in environments where sulphur dioxide gas is present at high temperatures. The alloy does not perform in reducing, nitriding or carburizing atmospheres, but it does outperform most heat resistant stainless steels in these conditions.
Specification
According to the 316 stainless steel plate specification, it is specified by ASTM standard as ASTM A 240 or ASME SA-240 are readily available in different types such as, for example, SS 316 Plane sheet and Plate, Shim, Thin, Perforated, Polished, Diamond, Chequered, Hot rolled, Cold rolled, Annealed, Soft annealed , coils, clad plate, strip etc.
As per availability and requirement Alloy 316 Sheets and Plate can be manufactured in different types burt also they also has different types of finishing on surface such as for example, Brushed , Polished t, Mirror finish, Mirror polished, Hot rolled(HR), Cold rolled (CR), 2B,2D, BA NO(8), SATIN(Met with Plastic coated). Buy 316 stainless steel plate for sale from various suppliers as SS 316 plate price in India is affordable yet varies for different suppliers.
Application
Stainless Steel 316 Sheets offer a wide range of applications. High Chromium with additions of Molybdenum can be used for these Stainless Steel 316 Plates in quite aggressive conditions such as sea water. Stainless Steel 316 Sheets are also chosen for their resistance to stress corrosion cracking, which are further not as formable as austenitic stainless steels.
Stainless Steel 316 sheets and Plates is often used in biomedical implants, chemical processing, pharmaceutical, textile finishing, food processing, photographic, marine exterior trim, Pulp & Paper Industry, Aerospace Industry, Oil and Gas Industry etc.
