Stainless Steel 347 Sheet and Stainless Steel 347 Plate or Alloy 347 (UNS S34700) is columbium stabilized austenitic stainless steel sheet and plate with good general corrosion resistance and somewhat better resistance in strong oxidizing conditions than 321 (UNS S32100). It has excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion after exposure to temperatures in the chromium carbide precipitation range of 800 – 1500°F (427 – 816°C).

Properties

SS 347 Sheet and plate exhibits good general corrosion resistance that is comparable to 304. It was developed for use in the chromium carbide precipitation range of 800 – 1500°F (427 – 816°C) where un-stabilized alloys such as 304 are subject to intergranular attack. Alloy 347 stainless steel plate is stabilized by the addition of columbium and tantalum.

Grade  347 stainless steel sheet and SS 347 Plate is also advantageous for high temperature service because of its good mechanical properties. Alloy 347 stainless steel offers higher creep and stress rupture properties than Alloy 304 and, particularly, Alloy 304L, which might also be considered for exposures where sensitization and intergranular corrosion are concerns.

The alloy has good oxidation resistance and creep strength to 1500°F (816°C). It also possesses good low temperature toughness. Alloy 347 stainless steel sheets and plate cannot be hardened by heat treatment, only by cold working. It can be easily welded and processed by standard shop fabrication practices.

The austenitic SS 347 Sheet and SS 347 Plate specified by ASTM standard as  ASTM A 240 or ASME SA-240 are readily available in different types such as, for example, SS 347 Plane sheet and Plate, Shim, Thin, Perforated, Polished, Diamond, Chequered, Hot rolled, Cold rolled, Annealed, Soft annealed , coils, clad plate, strip etc.

As per availability and requirement Alloy 347 Sheets and Plate can be manufactured in different types burt also they also has different types of finishing on surface such as for example, Brushed , Polished t, Mirror finish, Mirror polished, Hot rolled(HR), Cold rolled  (CR), 2B,2D, BA NO(8), SATIN(Met with Plastic coated).

Application

Grade 347 Stainless Steel sheet and plates have superior welding and forming capability and they are frequently utilized in heat exchangers, petroleum refineries, welded fabrication, pressure vessels, parts of aircraft engines and in power generation.
