Round Bar

Round Bar

Stainless steel grade or SS 430 Round Bar is non-hardenable steel containing straight chromium, and belongs to the ferritic group of steels.  It exhibits good corrosion resistance in mildly corrosive environments and good oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures

Properties

SS 430 Round Bar has excellent corrosion resistance to a wide variety of corrosive media including nitric acid as well as sulphur gases and many organic and food acids. Being ferritic in nature, the alloy has very high resistance stress corrosion cracking.

Compared to the austenitic grades, 430 steel Bars  has a low work hardening rate, which enables easy bending and forming and consequently this grade is less appropriate for stretch forming applications than austenitic grades.

SS 430 offers exceptional resistance to corrosion by sulphuric and phosphoric acids and is often the most cost effective alloy in sulphuric acid service. The additions of copper and molybdenum increase its resistance to general stress corrosion and to specific attacks such as crevice corrosion.

Specification

The Specification for Wrought Ferritic Stainless steel Bars as per astm Standard is ASTM A-276/ASME SA-276, they are categorised into different form and shape such as SS 430 Round Bar, Rod, Channel Bar, T-Bar, Flat Bar, Blocks, Square, bar, Triangle, Threaded, Hex (A/F), Profiles, Half Ingot, Billet, I/H Bar, etc.

When considering wrought SS 430 Round Bar, material shall be furnished in the following way such as  Hot-worked, Hot-worked and Annealed, Hot-worked- Annealed and cold worked or Hot-worked-Annealed and heat treated.

Round bars depending upon their treatment and their use and application they can also be available in different surface finishes such as Black, Bright Polished, Rough Turned, NO.4 Finish, Matt Finish, BA Finish, 2B, 2D, etc.

Application

  • Handing equipment for mining,
  • Heat-resisting applications,
  • Automotive trim,
  • Industrial roofing & wall cladding
