Ferritic SS 430 Sheets and Plates
430 grade stainless steel sheet and 430 stainless plate is a non-hardenable steel containing straight chromium, and belongs to the ferritic group of steels. It exhibits good corrosion resistance in mildly corrosive environments and good oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures.

Properties
430 SS sheet and plate has excellent corrosion resistance to a wide variety of corrosive media including nitric acid as well as sulphur gases and many organic and food acids. Being ferritic in nature, the alloy has very high resistance stress corrosion cracking.

Compared to the austenitic grades, 430 sheet and 430 SS plate has a low work hardening rate, which enables easy bending and forming and consequently this grade is less appropriate for stretch forming applications than austenitic grades.

According to the 430 stainless steel data sheet, SS 430 or 430 stainless sheet offers exceptional resistance to corrosion by sulphuric and phosphoric acids and is often the most cost effective alloy in sulphuric acid service. The additions of copper and molybdenum increase its resistance to general stress corrosion and to specific attacks such as crevice corrosion.
Specification
The Ferritic SS 430 stainless steel sheet and 430 Stainless steel plate specified by ASTM standard as ASTM A 240 or ASME SA-240 are readily available in different types such as, for example, SS 430 Plane sheet and Plate, Shim, Thin, Perforated, Polished, Diamond, Chequered, Hot rolled, Cold rolled, Annealed, Soft annealed , coils, clad plate, strip etc.
