Round Bar

Round Bar

Alloy B-3 Bar is an additional member of the nickel-molybdenum family of alloys with thermal stability greater than that of Hastelloy B-2. It has excellent resistance to pitting, corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. It has excellent resistance to hydrochloric acid at all concentrations and temperatures.

Alloy B3, in common with most nickel alloys, offers excellent corrosion resistance. Grade B3 bar is particularly useful in chemical processes involving highly corrosive acids at temperatures that would normally produce rapid and catastrophic corrosion.

Properties

The main functionality of Hastelloy B-3 bar is to survive under high-stress, high-temperature applications; the chief benefit of Hastelloy B-3 is its ability to resist hydrochloric acid at all temperatures and concentrations. This alloy also resists other vigorously corrosive agents extremely well.

The improved thermal stability of B-3 bar minimizes the problems associated with fabrication of B-2 alloy components.  Hastelloy B-3 has good overall forming and welding characteristics.  A low carbon content permits alloy B-3 to be used in the as-welded condition.

Specification

The Specification for Alloy B-3 Round Bar as per astm Standard is ASTM B 335/ASME SB-335, the  arelloo categorised into different form and shape such as Hastelloy B-3 Round Bar, Rod, Channel Bar, T-Bar, Flat Bar, Blocks, Square, bar, Triangle, Threaded, Hex (A/F), Profiles, Half Ingot, Billet, I/H Bar, etc.

When considering wrought stainless round bars, material shall be furnished in the following way such as  Hot-worked, Hot-worked and Annealed, Hot-worked- Annealed and cold worked or Hot-worked-Annealed and heat treated.

Round bars depending upon their treatment and their use and application they can also be available in different surface finishes such as Black, Bright Polished, Rough Turned, NO.4 Finish, Matt Finish, BA Finish, 2B, 2D, etc.

Application

Alloy B-3 Bar is widely used in the chemical processing industry and for storage of corrosive acids. The pressure vessels used for chloroprene production, along with nuclear reactors, chemical reactors and distillation equipment are manufactured in Hastelloy B3 alloy.
