The high chromium content provides good resistance to oxidizing media while the molybdenum and tungsten content give good resistance to reducing media. This combination of corrosion resistance makes alloy 22 particularly useful in applications where mixed acids are present.
Properties
Hastelloy C22 bar can with enhanced resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. This nickel steel alloy also has excellent resistance to oxidizing aqueous media including wet chlorine and mixtures containing nitric acid or oxidizing acids with chlorine ions.

Alloy C-22 bar is a great alternative when super austenitic stainless steels ( AL-6XN,904L, and 254 SMO) and duplex stainless steels (2205 and 2507) will not withstand extremely aggressive media. The grade also offers improved properties of resistance to the environment where there are reducing and oxidizing conditions.
