Hastelloy C-276 round bar is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium super alloy with an addition of tungsten designed to have excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of severe environments. Alloy C276 has excellent corrosion resistance in both oxidizing and reducing environments.

Properties

Alloy C-276 hastelloy is resistant to stress corrosion cracking, general corrosion, crevice corrosion and pitting in a wide range of severe environments. The hastelloy C 276 composition allows it to have exceptional resistance to sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid. Hastelloy C276 has excellent resistance to strong oxidizers like ferric and cupric chlorides.

Hastelloy C276 properties include excellent resistance to phosphoric acid-containing solutions. C276 Hastelloy exhibits excellent resistance to corrosion by seawater especially under crevice conditions which induce attack in other commonly used materials such as 316 stainless steel, MONEL alloy 400, and INCONEL alloy 625.

Hastelloy C-276 round bar materials are used for recovery and handling of sour natural gas, which contains hydrogen sulfide and usually carbon dioxide and chlorides. These gases can be extremely corrosive to carbon and alloy steels, and may cause brittle failure of many alloys by sulfide stress cracking or stress-corrosion cracking.

Specification

The Specification for Hastelloy C-276 round bar as per astm Standard is ASTM B 574/ASME SB-574, the  arelloo categorised into different form and shape such as Hastelloy C-276 Round Bar, Rod, Channel Bar, T-Bar, Flat Bar, Blocks, Square, bar, Triangle, Threaded, Hex (A/F), Profiles, Half Ingot, Billet, I/H Bar, etc.

When considering wrought stainless round bars, material shall be furnished in the following way such as  Hot-worked, Hot-worked and Annealed, Hot-worked- Annealed and cold worked or Hot-worked-Annealed and heat treated.

Round bars depending upon their treatment and their use and application they can also be available in different surface finishes such as Black, Bright Polished, Rough Turned, NO.4 Finish, Matt Finish, BA Finish, 2B, 2D, etc.
