Commercially pure or low-alloy nickel has characteristics that are useful in several fields, notably chemical processing and electronics.

Properties

Ni 200/201 bar offer good resistance to corrosion in acids and alkalis and are most useful under reducing conditions. These Nickel 200/201 Round Bars are unaffected by any of the weak bases such as ammonium hydroxide, even in high concentrations and at high temperatures.

Both Nickel 200 and 201 offer corrosion resistance in reducing and neutral media as well as in oxidizing atmospheres provided that the oxidizing media allows the formation of a passive oxide film. This oxide film accounts for the materials excellent resistance in caustic environments.

Nickel Alloy 20/201 is a financially immaculate nickel that shows great erosion resistance and has rather low electrical resistivity. This low electrical resistivity of Nickel Alloy 200/201 has permitted its utilization as directing leads and terminals in electrical and electronic parts.

Specification

The Specification for Ni 200/201 bar as per astm Standard is ASTM B 160/ASME SB-160, they are categorised into different form and shape such as Ni 200/201 Round Bar, Rod, Channel Bar, T-Bar, Flat Bar, Blocks, Square, bar, Triangle, Threaded, Hex (A/F), Profiles, Half Ingot, Billet, I/H Bar, etc.

When considering wrought stainless round bars, material shall be furnished in the following way such as  Hot-worked, Hot-worked and Annealed, Hot-worked- Annealed and cold worked or Hot-worked-Annealed and heat treated.

Round bars depending upon their treatment and their use and application they can also be available in different surface finishes such as Black, Bright Polished, Rough Turned, NO.4 Finish, Matt Finish, BA Finish, 2B, 2D, etc.

Application

Applications where Nickel 200 & 201 bar can be used include chemical processing and storage, synthetic fiber production, and processes where sodium hydroxide and fluorine is used. Other applications include aerospace and defense as well as food processing. 

Nickel 200/201 has exceptional resistance to caustic alkalies at various temperatures and concentrations. Alloy 200 & 201 bars are resistant to sulphuric acid at room temperature, even in high concentrations.
